Is Your Website Still Working for You?

How to Check If Your Site Is Converting Visitors Into Enquiries

If your website was built a few years ago, there’s a good chance it still looks great.
But here’s the more important question:
Is it actually doing its job?
Websites aren’t a “set and forget” tool. Visitor behaviour changes. Your business evolves. Technology moves fast. A site that converted well in 2021 might quietly be under-performing today — without you even realising it.
Here’s a simple, non-technical way to check whether your website is converting as many visitors as it should.
Start with the basics. Ask yourself:
Are people filling in contact forms?
Booking calls?
Signing up to newsletters?
Clicking key buttons?
If your site gets traffic but very few enquiries, something is breaking the flow.
Quick check: Open your homepage and ask:👉 What is the ONE action I want a visitor to take here? If the answer isn’t obvious within 5 seconds, your visitors feel the same.
Is your message still aligned with your business?
Many business owners grow — but their website stays frozen in time.
Ask yourself:
Does the site still reflect what you actually offer?
Are you targeting the same audience as before?
Is your messaging clear and confident?
A misaligned message leads to the wrong visitors — or no action at all.
Is your site out-of-date?
Look at your site and ask:
Are testimonials recent & up to date?
Are services and pricing still accurate?
Does the design still feel professional by today’s standards?
Are there real photos, names, or proof you’re active?
If something feels outdated to you, it definitely does to new visitors.
Is Your Call-to-Action Clear (and Repeated)?
Every strong website gently guides visitors — it doesn’t leave them guessing.
Check:
Do buttons clearly say what happens next? (e.g. Book a Call, Get a Quote, Contact Me)
Are calls-to-action visible without scrolling?
Does it STILL feel trustworthy?
Is Your Site still Fast Enough?
Speed = trust + conversions.
Older, slower sites lead to:
Higher bounce rates
Fewer enquiries
Lower Google rankings
Even a 1–2 second delay can reduce conversions significantly.
Quick test: If your site takes more than ~3 seconds to load, it’s time to investigate.
When Was the Last Time Your Website Had a Check-Up? You wouldn’t run a business tool for years without reviewing it — your website shouldn’t be any different.
Sometimes small tweaks make a huge difference:
Adjusting page layout
Improving calls-to-action
Updating copy
Optimising mobile experience
Fixing conversion blockers
